Lars Johanning:

Professor of Ocean Technology; Associated Head of School - Research, University of Plymouth, UK; International

Co-Director of China Council for International Cooperation on Environmental Development (CCICED), Task Team 2 Ocean Energy.

Focus Area: Offshore Wind

A seasoned international expert, he led the development of resilient conceptual designs for floating offshore wind applications under the Marine Renewable Energy (ORE) program jointly funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

He advised the ORE Catapult as member of the Research Advisory Group (RAG), provides expert advice within the Mooring Standards Committee to the IEC/TC114 and provided the technical lead in the development of the EU Ocean Energy Strategic Roadmap within the Ocean Energy Secretariat.


 

Andrew Lipman:

Director of ABS China Subsea and Mining operations

Focus Area: DSM Developments

With over 30 years of expertise in the offshore oil and gas industry, he specializes in marine engineering and subsea technologies, leading deep-sea mining projects worldwide.

He has extensive commercial diving experience, has served as an EPCI general contractor, and conducted third-party inspections on behalf of coastal state authorities.



Frank Lim:

Chief Ocean Engineer of Jiangsu Marine Technology Innovation Cent

Focus Area: Deepwater Oil & Gas Production

A 40-year veteran in floating and subsea engineering, he pioneered the Single-Line Flexible Riser (SLFR) technology—successfully deployed in projects across West Africa, Brazil, and beyond—and is a globally recognized authority on deep-sea seabed mining (up to 6,000 meters).

As a Fellow of IMechE/RINA, Chairman of the ISOPE Technical Committee, and Director & China Chapter Chairman of the Society for Underwater Technology (SUT), he has overseen numerous major international marine engineering projects. Previously.

He served as Global President of 2H Offshore and Distinguished Professor/PhD Supervisor at China University of Petroleum (Beijing).

 

Fei Chai

Chair Professor of Xiamen University, National High-Level Overseas Talents Program

Focus Area: Digital Twins of the Ocean

Dean of the School of Marine Sciences, University of Maine, he has served as a review expert for numerous domestic and international funding agencies and major projects.

He has led or participated in over 40 large-scale research initiatives, published more than 230 papers in top international academic journals (cited over 13,000 times), and holds an h-index of 62 on Google Scholar.

His research interests include marine science, marine carbon cycle, physical-biogeochemical modeling, marine ecosystems, fisheries resources, and BGC-Argo observations.
