OA Talk Industry Experts Face-to-Face Interview | Beijing Huaxia Optical Valley Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd: Exploring Underwater Optical Characteristics, Focusing on Laser Technology Applicati
2025-01-09

As a professional interview column of Oceanology Asia (referred to as OA Ocean Expo), OA Talk is dedicated to build up an interdisciplinary, cross-field and cross-industry interactive communication platform for the industry, where experts and scholars from marine science and technology industries gather together to share cutting-edge views, capture high-quality information and collide with cooperation opportunities, Experts and scholars from well-known enterprises, universities and research institutes gather together to share cutting-edge views, capture high-quality information and collide with cooperation opportunities.

This is the eleventh installment of OA Talk's face-to-face interviews with industry experts, focusing on underwater optical research and laser technology applications.

Interview guest in this issue:

Liu Jingjiao, General Manager of Beijing Huaxia Optical Valley Optoelectronic Technology Co.

Keywords for this issue:

Underwater Optics Research

Laser Technology Applications

Q: What is the company's key area of specialization?

Relying on the core technology of underwater laser, the company is committed to realizing a series of key functions such as underwater image transmission communication, illumination, imaging and target detection. In the current marine technology system, in addition to the dominant position of sonar, the optical means also plays an important role. From the perspective of the evolution of optical technology, its development has gone through three generations: the first generation is represented by solid-state laser; the second generation is widely used LED technology; the company is now focusing on the third generation of blue-green semiconductor laser applications, the technology through the organic integration of the imaging system, showing a unique advantage for the underwater operation opens up a whole new path, is expected to become the emerging marine underwater optical technology. Pillar.

Q: What are the eye-catching exhibits on display?

The more than 20 exhibits on display focus on three key areas: first, helicopter-mounted laser technology, which can realize underwater low-frequency acoustic detection and communication, generating low-frequency acoustic frequency peaks lower than one thousand hertz, which is more low-frequency than the traditional sonar, and fills in the blank of the air-water cross-boundary application of microwave and sonar. The second is the UAV-carried blue-green laser technology for underwater special target detection, but also the use of active and passive composite photoelectric detection means to deal with the turbid underwater environment; the third is the underwater laser irradiation and communication technology, will be the point of the spot to expand the blue-green line irradiation to broaden the coverage of the waters, and at the same time, the communication rate of up to a megabits per square meter (MBPs), far more than the sonar of dozens of kilohertz to a few hundred kilohertz, although the effect of the distance is a little closer, but it can be a real-time Although the distance is a little short, it can transmit high-definition images to meet the immediate needs of underwater image transmission.

Q: What are the difficulties and breakthrough points faced at present?

Currently, the key issue facing the company is how to deeply integrate with underwater related platforms. At present, the company has overcome the technical difficulties of the load, there is no commercialized product of this technology for sale at home and abroad, only that there is a scarcity of suitable platform resources. In the future, the breaking point is to join hands with large enterprises or authoritative organizations, with the existing technology, the company is confident that within one or two years to launch a number of domestic and foreign first laser underwater application equipment.

OA 2025 Ocean Expo will be held on October 22-24, 2025 at Shanghai International Sourcing Convention & Exhibition Center. As an exhibition for the marine technology industry, OA 2025 Ocean Expo will continue to focus on industry hotspots and trends, and build an efficient communication platform for industry insiders
