The International Marine Technology Conference and the OA General Assembly, along with the Technical Conference, successfully took place in September at the Shanghai International Procurement Exhibition Center, coinciding with the Oceanology Asia 2024 International Marine Science and Technology Equipment Exhibition (referred to as "OA 2024 Marine Expo").
As the main forum of the OA 2024 Marine Expo, the International Marine Technology Conference and OA General Assembly is an international conference focused on cutting-edge marine technology. The event brought together renowned experts and scholars from China, the United States, Pakistan, India, and other countries to engage in discussions on current hot topics. During the opening remarks, Cui Weicheng, a Changjiang Scholar, manned deep-sea diving hero, and the former chief deputy designer of the Jiaolong submersible, emphasized that "the OA General Assembly serves as an effective communication platform, uniting global marine professionals to explore the latest advancements, challenges, and trends in marine technology, and to collaboratively seek new opportunities for the development of the marine industry and blue economy."

During the conference, the insightful presentations by Chinese experts and scholars, alongside representatives from overseas enterprises, opened new international perspectives for the development of the marine sector, further promoting global exchange and cooperation in the marine industry. Luo Song, Deputy Chief Engineer/Researcher at the 750th Test Site of China Shipbuilding Group, analyzed the current state of marine technology equipment research and application both domestically and internationally, forecasting the future direction of industry research and development in China. He emphasized the need to align with the national marine development strategy and overcome critical challenges to meet the demands of social progress and economic development. Greg Johnson, President of the American marine technology equipment company RBR, demonstrated the latest equipment and instruments to the audience, seeking global collaboration opportunities through the international exchange platform provided by the OA.

Eighteen experts, including Yu Fei, Researcher at the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Li Shoujun, Senior Engineer at the Second Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources; Xue Shuqing, Deputy Director/Researcher at the Institute of Geodesy and Navigation, Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping; Professor Shang Zhigang from Harbin Engineering University; Wang Bo, Associate Dean/Professor at the School of Automation, Beijing Institute of Technology; and Liu Yuhong, Professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Tianjin University, provided substantial content and unique perspectives in their presentations, contributing wisdom and strength to the intelligent development of the marine industry.
