The 2024 Academic (International) Biennial Conference of the China Oceanographic Society (CSO)、the 2024 World Ocean Science and Technology Conference(OA Plenary)、Oceanology Asia 2024 (OA 2024),will be held at the CECIS, Shanghai from September 25-27, 2024. Concurrently, 12 series of brand, professional, and technical forums will be held, focusing on hot topics of the moment such as Navigation & Positioning, Ocean Observation, ROV/AUV/UUV, Marine Scientific Research, Buoyant Wind Power, Ocean Energy, Marine Satellite Remote Sensing, Marine Mineral Exploration, Overseas Promotion for Chinese Marine Instruments and Equipment, etc.

Yi Ma
Director of the Remote Sensing Department,First Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources
Yi Ma received his Ph.D. degree in physical oceanography from Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005. He joined the First Institute of Oceanography, State Oceanic Administration, in 2000. Now, he is a research professor and director of the marine physics and remote sensing division, First Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources. His professional interests are hyperspectral remote sensing, wetland monitoring and remote sensing bathymetry. He was a recipient of First-Grade Marine Science and Technology Award of China in 2014, with the project named “Research on island and coastal zone in China”. In recent years, he has published more than 50 academic papers and granted 5 invention patents.
Suleman Mazhar
Professor of Harbin Engineering University
Suleman Mazhar is working as professor at College of Underwater Acoustic Engineering (Harbin Engineering University, China) since July 2019. He did PhD from Tokyo University (Japan) and post doctorate from Georgetown University (Washington DC, USA). He is TYSP young scientist fellow (Ministry of Science & Technology China) and have won several research grants from international organizations (such as DAAD(Germany), ICIMOD(Nepal), NRPU (Higher Education Commission Pakistan), WWF (Worldwide Fund for Nature) Pakistan. His research focus is deep learning and signal processing applications for environmental monitoring, with particular focus on underwater, robotics and marine mammal monitoring. He is chair TC-Underwater Acoustics (IEEE-OES), chair Student Activities Committee (IEEE-OES) and reviewer for professional journals such as Journal of Acoustical Society (America), IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering, IEEE Sensors Journal, Applied Acoustics, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems etc.
Lixin Xu
Dean of Marine Technology Institute at Jiangsu University of Science, Executive Director of Technology Jiangsu Marine Technology Innovation Center
Dr. Lixin Xu, Professor, P.E., Director of Jiangsu Marine Technology Innovation Center, Dean of Marine Technology Institute at Jiangsu University of Science and Technology. Former Chief Scientist and General Manager of R&D Center at China Merchants Industrial, Chief Engineering Manager for Offshore at Technip USA, Vice President of Universal Pegasus Inc., responsible for offshore floating systems and riser technology. He has more than 35 years of experience in the fields, specializing in high-performance ships, offshore engineering, marine equipment, ocean energy development, subsea technology. He has owned more than 60 patents and published more than 100 papers.
Mayakrishnan Machendiranathan
Researcher of the College of Ocean and Meteorology, Guangdong Ocean University
Mayakrishnan Machendiranathan, who obtained his Ph.D. in Marine Science and Technology from Annamalai University in India in 2015, was appointed as a faculty member at the College of Ocean and Meteorology, Guangdong Ocean University in September 2018. He has made significant contributions in the areas of education and teaching, marine scientific research, coral conservation, and English cultural exchanges.
Lin Cui
Deputy Director of the Yangtze River Delta Marine Engineering Equipment Technology Center, Deputy Secretary-General of the Marine Energy Committee of the China Energy Research Association, Deputy Secretary-General of the Offshore Photovoltaic Committee of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association
Lin Cui,Ph.D., professor-level senior engineer. He has been engaged in research on basic scientific issues and major key technologies in the fields of marine renewable energy utilization and offshore multi-energy integration, including Ocean Wave Energy, Tidal Current Energy Utilization, Offshore Wind Power, Offshore Floating Photovoltaic, Offshore Multi-functional Platforms, and Underwater Energy Power Supply Technologies. He has presided over and participated in a number of national key scientific research projects in the field of oceanography, including the 908 special project of the State Oceanic Administration of China, the special project for Public Welfare Research in the Marine Industry, the Special Project for Marine Renewable Energy, the key project of the National Key Research and development programme of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the special project for Inter-governmental Scientific and Technological Co-operation, the special project for Strategic International Co-operation in Scientific and Technological Innovation, the Sino-British Co-operation Key Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Newton Fund of the Engineering and Natural Science Research Council of UK. He has published more than 40 research papers in high-level academic journals in China and abroad.
Lijian Shi
Deputy director of the Polar Remote Sensing Monitoring Department,National Satellite Ocean Application Service
Lijian Shi received the Ph.D. degree in marine information detection and processing from the Ocean University of China, Qingdao, China, in 2008., He is with the Department of Polar Remote Sensing Monitoring, National Satellite Ocean Application Service. His research interests include remote sensing application with multisensory data, especially on sea ice monitoring. He is the PI of more than 20 national and provincial projects such as the international cooperation project of MOST, National Key Research and Development Program of China. Based on Chinese oceanic satellite data, multi-element remote sensing retrieval algorithms for polar sea ice was developed and the sea ice operational products over the polar region was established. At present, the product has been assimilated into the Arctic Sea ice numerical forecast model and provides information for the CHINARE and the commercial vessel navigation in China.
Xiaoming LI
Researcher of The Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences
Xiaoming LI, Professor of the Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Executive Director of the Hainan Aerospace Technology Innovation Center and Executive Vice President of the Hainan Institute of Aerospace Information. His research is related to ocean remote sensing, focusing on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) for ocean dynamics and sea ice remote sensing. He is winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, is selected for the ‘100 Talents Project’ of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Category A). He has serves as the Chief Scientist of the "Sea-Sentinel" satellite mission. As project leader, he has presided more than 10 national and provincial research projects, including the National Key Research and Development Plan: "13th Five-Year Plan" Ocean Environmental Safety Guarantee, the "14th Five-Year Plan" Deep Sea and Polar Key Technology and Equipment Key Special Projects, the National Natural Science Foundation, and the High-Resolution Earth Observation System (GF), etc. He has published over 70 SCI papers in high-impact journals on remote sensing, ocean science, and geoscience, authorized 7 national invention and utility model patents, and authored 5 monographs. He has won the first prize of the 2021 Ocean Science and Technology Award (ranked 1).
Bin Lu
PhD Candidate of the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Bin Lu, a Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), is supervised by Professors Xinbing Wang and Xiaoying Gan. He received his bachelor's degree from SJTU in 2020. His research focuses on AI for science and graph machine learning. Lu has published eight academic papers in top journals and conferences like ICML, ICLR, KDD, and TKDE. He participated in the "Deep-time Digital Earth" project, and develop the Data Expo system (https://dataexpo.deep-time.org/), which collected more than 1.1 million geoscience metadata. He organized short courses and demos at UNESCO headquarters and at the annual meetings of GSA, AGU, and IGC. He is the PI of the first NSFC basic research project for young students (Ph. D.). Recently, he is collaborating with the School of Oceanography of SJTU to conduct research on data-driven global ocean deoxygenation reconstruction.
