The 2024 Academic (International) Biennial Conference of the China Oceanographic Society (CSO)the 2024 World Ocean Science and Technology ConferenceOA Plenary)、Oceanology Asia 2024 (OA 2024)will be held at the CECIS, Shanghai from September 25-27, 2024. Greg johns RBR since 2008 and led RBR to be Named “one of Canadas Fastest-Growing Companies by Growth 500” in past several years, number of employees has grown from thirty to more than a hundred now.

 


 

Yonghua Chen

Researcher IOCAS


Dr. Yonghua Chen, researcher and doctoral Supervisor of Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS). He has been engaged in the research and development of marine equipment for more than 20 years and had been fully involved in the construction of the Yellow Sea and East China Sea observation stations of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as the construction and operation of the Tropical Western Pacific Real Time Observation Network of IOCAS. As the leader, He has presided over more than 10 projects, including 3 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 1 sub project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Leading Special Project (Class A), 2 equipment development projects of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and 2 national key research and development plan projects. He has accumulated rich experience and developed more. In recent years, more than 50 papers have been published as the first or corresponding author, including 18 papers indexed in SCI or EI; and he has applied for 110 patents, including 61 invention patents (including 2 foreign patents).

 


 

ShiLin TANG

Professor at South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences


Shilin Tang, is a research professor at the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is a Ph.D. supervisor and serves as the Director of the Marine Information Center and the Guangdong Key Laboratory of Ocean Remote Sensing. His work primarily focuses on ocean remote sensing and marine informatics, with specific research interests in ocean color remote sensing, algorithm development, satellite data processing and analysis, and marine information systems. He has published over 80 papers in journals such as Earth System Science Data (ESSD), Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans (JGR-Oceans), IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing (IEEE-TGRS), Earth and Space Science, and International Journal of Remote Sensing. Shilin Tang has received several honors, including being named the first Zhujiang Science Star of Guangzhou, a member of the Youth Innovation Promotion Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a core member of the Guangdong Special Support Program's Local Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team.

 

 


Weicheng Cui

Chair Professor at Westlake University


Weicheng Cui, Bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University in 1986, Ph.D. from the University of Bristol, UK in 1990. In February 1993, he returned to China Ship Scientific Research Center. In 1999, he was appointed as one of the first “Changjiang Scholarship” professors at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In 2002, he became the director of the China Ship Scientific Research Center, the project leader and first deputy chief designer of the overall and integration of the "Jiaolong" submersible. In 2013, he joined Shanghai Ocean University and established the first Hadal Science and Technology Research Center, initiating the "Rainbowfish Challenges the Challenger Deep" project. Since September 2018, he has been appointed as a chair professor in the field of deep-sea technology at the School of Engineering, Westlake University. He is currently conducting research on the development of third-generation bionic intelligent robotic fish-shaped submersibles and fundamental theoretical research on large-scale complex engineering systems.

 

 



Minyi Xu

Doctoral Supervisor at Dalian Maritime UniversityProfessor


Minyi Xu is a Professor in the Marine Engineering College, Dalian Maritime University, and focuses on marine micro-nano energy and self-powered systems. He has published over 150 SCI-indexed papers in high-level international academic journals such as Nature Communications, Research, Nano Energy, and Applied Energy. He has obtained more than 30 authorized Chinese invention patents. He has received over 10 provincial and ministerial-level awards, including the First Prize of the Invention and Entrepreneurship Award of the China Invention Association, the First Prize of the Innovation Achievement Award of the China Industry-University-Research Institute Collaboration Association. He has been successively selected for talent programs such as the Youth Talent Support Project of the China Association for Science and Technology, the Young Scientific and Technological Talent of the Ministry of Transport, and the Outstanding Young Scientific and Technological Talent of Dalian.

 

 



Zhenhong DU

Dean of the School of Earth Sciences at Zhejiang UniversityProfessor


Zhenhong DUProfessor, PhD Supervisor, Recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Qiushi Distinguished Professor at Zhejiang University. Dean of the School of Earth Sciences at Zhejiang University, Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Resources and Environmental Information Systems, Executive Committee Member of the Artificial Intelligence Oceanography Professional Committee of the Chinese Ocean Society, etc. He has long-term engaged in teaching and scientific research in geoscience big data and Earth systems, marine spatiotemporal big data and artificial intelligence. In the past 5 years, he has led over 10 projects including National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Research and Development Program of China, etc. He also serves as the Technical Breakthrough Chief Commander of Deep-time Digital Earth (DDE) International Big Science Program. He has published more than 100 papers, 2 monographs. As the first accomplisher, he has won 4 awards including the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award, etc. He has also received the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award (3rd/10).

 

 



Ge CHEN

Professor at Ocean University of China


Ge CHENProfessor and PhD Supervisor at Ocean University of China, Recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and Changjiang Distinguished Professor appointed by the Ministry of Education. He has served as a member of the "Oceanography Review Panel" of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the Expert Group on Earth Observation and Navigation under the National 863 Program and member of the "Ocean Environment Monitoring Technology Theme Expert Group", etc. He had published over 300 papers in major academic journals across the fields of remote sensing, oceanography, atmosphere, and information, with extensive citations by more than 270 international SCI journals and authoritative publications. He was employed as chief scientist of the Oceanography Satellite at the Laoshan National Laboratory, and invited to serve as Associate Editor for the international journal IEEE-JSTARS and the domestic journal Journal of Remote Sensing.

 

 


Guanjun Gao

Director of the Optical Communication Network Center at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications

 

Gao Guanjun is the director of the Optical Communication Network Center in the School of Electronic Engineering at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. He serves as a member of the Marine Information Network Committee of the Chinese Society for Optical Engineering and as a consulting expert in the field of communications for the National Enterprise Technology Center under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. His research interests include optical communication systems and networks, submarine optical cable systems, and underwater wireless optical communication perception. He has developed theoretical models for analyzing and evaluating the nonlinear transmission performance of optical networks and digital twin simulation models, which have been applied to the high-speed and large-capacity transmission product lines of several mainstream optical communication equipment manufacturers and submarine optical cable systems.

 

 


Zhaoshuo Tian

Professor at Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai)


Zhaoshuo TianProfessor, Ministry of Education New Century Talents. He is currently director of the Optoelectronic Equipment Research Institute, Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai), director of the Shandong Ocean optoelectronic monitoring engineering technology center, and director of the Key Laboratory of Ocean Resources and Environment Monitoring. More than 50 national and provincial research projects have been completed. He has published more than 150 SCI and EI papers in important journals and has been invited to make many invited reports in academic conferences at home and abroad. Awarded 4 provincial awards, authorized more than 20 national invention patents. He is a member of international IEEE, American Optical Society and China Optical Society, and an expert of national and provincial science and Technology Project Evaluation. His main research work includes Ocean Photoelectric Imaging Technology, laser spectral water quality monitoring technology, ocean photoelectric detection technology, laser and its application technology.

 

 


Genyun Sun

Professor at China University of PetroleumEast China


Genyun Sun is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Marine and Space Information, China University of Petroleum (East China). He has been a visiting scholar at the University of Glasgow and serves as an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Geosciences and Remote Sensing. His research focuses on intelligent processing of remote sensing big data, tropical and subtropical remote sensing, and coastal zone remote sensing.

In recent years, he has led six projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation and key R&D initiatives. He has published over 50 first author/corresponding papers in leading journals like IEEE TCYB, ISPRS, and IEEE TGRS, with four recognized among the top 1% most cited papers globally according to ESI. He has also received multiple awards, including the Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress in Surveying and Mapping and the First Prize in Shandong Province.

 

 



Dongjie FU

Associate Professor at Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences


Dongjie FU is a distinguished researcher at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (key talent). He is an associate Professor at the State Key Laboratory of Resources and Environmental Information System, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a member of the Ocean Environmental Science Branch of the Chinese Society for Oceanography and the Digital Coastal Branch of the Chinese National Committee of the International Society for Digital Earth. He is mainly engaged in research on spatial detection of remote sensing big data and coastal remote sensing. He has published more than 40 papers in Science sub-journals, 5 authorized invention patents, and deputy editor-in-chief of the "Arctic Regional Comprehensive Geographic Map". He won the first prize of the 2021 Marine Science and Technology Award. He presided over 2 national key R&D program projects, 1 sub-project, the CAS Pioneer B Special Project, the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Fund, etc. He is the technical leader of the CAS Pioneer A Special Project and the Science and Technology Basic Resources Survey Special Sub-Project.

 

 


BIN Wang

Senior Engineer at National Ocean technology center


BIN WangDoctor of Physical Oceanography, Senior Engineer, Deputy Director of the Marine Environmental Protection Department of the National Ocean Technology Center, and Master's Degree Supervisor; has long been committed to the research on observational techniques and intelligent data applications in the field of air-sea interaction. In 2021, he was awarded the title of Young Scientific and Technological Talent by the Ministry of Natural Resources, and in 2020, he was appointed as a member of the Youth Committee for the World Ocean Observation Conference 2029. He has presided over and completed more than 30 scientific research and business projects, including 5 national-level projects such as the National Key R&D Program, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's scientific and technological attack project, the Military Commission Fund, and the Navy's 13th Five-Year Pre-research, and 24 provincial and ministerial-level projects such as provincial and ministerial-level funds, key R&D, and business projects of the Ministry of Natural Resources. He has published more than 20 papers, obtained more than 20 patents, and co-published a white paper in the field of international observation. For the first time internationally, he proposed the concept of a new type of air-sea interface observation technology—"Blue Ocean Star" drifting air-sea interface buoy, completed the technical breakthrough, and carried out global marine business observation applications. He completed the technical breakthrough of the "Outpost" wave spectrum buoy and solved the dependence on imports that has lasted for decades, achieving the domestic substitution of equipment and intelligent observation of all elements of waves, and promoted the application nationwide.

 

 


Yan LI

Senior Engineer at National Ocean Technology Center


Yan Li, a Senior Engineer and PhD at National Ocean Technology Center, China. Li Yan was Deputy Director (Chair) of Department of Marine Strategy Research & Planning, NOTC, China and joined NEPTUNE Canada (2012-2013), Ocean Network Canada, University of Victoria, Canada with DMAS team as a visiting scholar. Among these works, she leaded a team to build the marine observation technology test lab indoor and test site in the field. For supporting natural resources management and oceanic environmental protect, she presided Penglai cabled observatory project and obtained multiple achievements such as national invention patents, national standard, software copyrights, and SCI papers.

 

 



Jianhua ZHAO

Deputy Director at The National Marine Environmental Monitoring CenterProfessor Senior Engineer


Jianhua ZHAO, holds PhD in Science, and is Professor Senior Engineer. He serves as the Deputy Director of the National Marine Environmental Monitoring Center, Standing Committee Member of the Expert Committee of the China Association for Remote Sensing Application, and Deputy Director of the Ocean and Lake Information Technology Committee of the Chinese Society for Oceanology and Limnology. He was graduated in June 2004 from the Department of Earth Sciences, Zhejiang University, with a PhD in Structural Geology. He engaged in long-term research and operational application of ocean remote sensing monitoring technology, leading over 10 projects including National Natural Science Foundation of China and ocean public welfare research. He has won nearly 10 provincial awards, including such as the National Oceanic Administration Ocean Science and Technology Innovation Award and the Ocean Engineering Science and Technology Award. He is the chief editor and contributor to 5 published monographs, holder of 3 national invention patents, author of over 80 domestic and international papers, and compiler of more than 50 special research reports.

 

 

 


Wenjia Xu

Data Center officer at Hebei Prospecting Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering GeologicalRemote Sensing Center of HeBei Province


Wenjia Xu, officer of the data center of Hebei Prospecting Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering GeologicalRemote Sensing Center of HeBei Province, is a senior engineer and second-level candidate for the333 Talent Project in Hebei province. Mainly engaged in remote sensing big data, geographic information, artificial intelligence and other aspects of technical research and application. She has presided over more than 20 provincial-level and municipal-level remote sensing application projects. The projects have won the second prize of Ocean Engineering Science and Technology Award, the second prize of Geographic Information Science and Technology Progress Award, and the third prize of Hebei Province Science and Technology Progress Award. Published more than 20 academic papers.

 

 



Liwen Liu

Deputy Director at The 705 Research Institute, China State Shipbuilding Corporation LimitedSenior Engineer


Liwen Liu, a postdoctoral researcher at the 705th Research Institute, serves as the Deputy Director of the Center for System Performance Research and Experimentation and holds the title of Senior Engineer. He is primarily engaged in research related to underwater target recognition technology based on artificial intelligence. Liu has led and participated in numerous major national engineering projects, defense science and technology key laboratory funds, general projects under the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and the Natural Science Basic Research Plan of Shaanxi Province. He also acts as the Deputy Chief Technical Officer for a pivotal basic research project within the Fundamental Strengthening Program. Liu has published over ten academic papers and holds eight patents.
