 Dake Chen Physical Oceanographer Academician of Chinese Academy Dake Chen has served as a professor at Columbia University, director of the State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environmental Dynamics (SOED), and director of the Scientific and Technological Commission of the Second Institute of Oceanography, MNR. Currently, Dake Chen holds the position of the director of Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Zhuhai), and dual-appointed professor at the School of Marine Sciences of Sun Yat-sen University. He has been engaged in basic research in marine science for many years and has made important contributions in the fields of offshore, ocean and climate.
At present, Dake Chen is mainly devoted to the research of tropical air-sea interactions, basic theories of ocean circulation, polar marine environment and climate variability. In addition, he is a member of several major international academic organizations and journals, and aims to promote a series of ocean and polar research programs at the national and international levels.
